Women’s History Month is celebrated globally by recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Women’s Day (March 8) also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

This year’s theme is #embracequity and instead of seeing this month as just another celebration, we encourage you to take action and internalize how important equity is for women across the world. Below are a few ideas on how you can turn this month into an impactful experience that can be shared with your family, friends and colleagues.

  1. Host A Storytelling Workshop

A storytelling workshop is one of the best activities to facilitate or participate in this month because it is a chance for women to share their experiences. This virtual or in-person workshop is a time where each woman can create their own piece and then share their story with the group. Participants can give feedback and take turns reflecting on each other’s stories. This encourages growth and creative experimentation in a safe setting, imparting confidence and facilitating connection between each woman.

  1. Donations to Women’s Philanthropies

Contributing to Women’s philanthropies is one of the most meaningful celebration ideas. Donations enable organizations to educate young girls, address female health issues, help women become self-sufficient and self-sustaining, and preserve women’s history.

  1. Host A Lunch and Learn

Part of the purpose of International Women’s Day is to acknowledge women’s contributions to history. You can plan programming that educates employees on women’s history while also supporting a female owned restaurant for lunch!
