It’s officially Fall and while I am excited to embrace the cooler months, I know there are many of you who have mixed feelings about this time of year.

So, consider this a check-in.

I want to remind you that it’s okay to slow things down, to take more time for self-care and to be a little less excited about what can be one of the busiest times of the year.

While I am personally excited about Fall fashion, Fall foliage and football, I am also already starting to feel some of the stress that comes with holiday planning. For many of us, this will be the first time we host a holiday gathering since the pandemic began two years ago.

But don’t let this overwhelm you.

Let this be a reminder for you to take things one day at a time. While this blog won’t keep the hustle and bustle of the holiday season from finding you, it will help you prepare your mind and body so that you experience this time more positively.

Here are 5 tips you can implement to save energy and stay ahead:

  1. Plan ahead

Waiting until the last minute to do your holiday shopping and make travel arrangements is sure to add unnecessary stress. Instead, make a plan to tackle things in increments.

Set a timetable for yourself and commit to checking one thing off your list every week or two. That way, you’ll miss the holiday rush and feel much more prepared for all the other little things that tend to pop-up during this time.

  1. Set the mood

Think about things that help you feel more relaxed and be intentional about consistently including those things in your routine over the next few months. Whether it’s burning a candle, listening to your favorite music, drinking festive cocktails, mocktails or warm drinks, or relaxing by the fireplace – find little things that bring joy to your life.

Keeping these mood boosters as part of your routine will help ease stress and put you in the right frame of mind.

  1. Don’t forget about yourself

Busy schedules can easily cause us to forget about ourselves. I know I am not the only one who has spent all day cooking without taking 10 minutes to rest and eat. Plan ahead so that meal prep for holiday dinner also includes proper nourishment for yourself throughout the day.

This will also help you to not overindulge at dinner.

  1. Outsource

Contrary to popular belief, you can outsource items for your holiday dinner.

It can be as simple having guests bring dessert or baked goods from your favorite local bakery or hiring someone who can help with clean up after dinner, so you don’t have to worry about it.
