Are you Ready?

Summer 2020 is here!  I hope this blog finds you and your family safe and healthy.  COVID-19 affected us all personally and professionally. At Keys, we pivoted to remote teaching to meet the needs of our students. Personally, we lost loved ones.  We’ve learned a lot:

  1. Family first. Family is everything.
  2. Your health is wealth.
  3. Change is constant and usually good.
  4. Tomorrow is not promised, so live like today is your last.
  5. If you’re comfortable in life, you’re not fully living.
  6. Give roses and share your true thoughts while individuals are above ground.
  7. You’re more creative than you thought.
The civil unrest has also affected Keys, but in different ways.
1. We’ve always known: Black Lives Matter. We’re grateful to see that others are starting to speak out and understand that, too.
2. We are fully aware that racism and slavery are still present. It’s just in modern, invisible forms, which is why we work diligently to teach our youth to break the shackles on their minds.
3.  People of color have never been on a level playing field when it comes to opportunities.  We are owed these opportunities due to systemic racism.
4. This civil unrest is just the start to the numerous changes that need to be made in the education system, housing system, prison system, judicial system, and the work arena.
5. Juneteenth is now a day of honor and remembrance for all Keys’ employees.
We continue to do our work, and we are working to expand our reach.  We are offering remote culinary camps for our children & families and classes for adults. Please view a sample of our remote culinary videos.  Try out the recipes and let us know what you think.
